SCR entered a team in the Hartless Sheild call changes striking competition held this afternoon at All Saints Church in Fawley. We’re delighted to report that we came first, beating stiff competition from teams across the C&S district including Christchurch, Eling, Sopley, Milford on Sea and a very good youth band of junior ringers from across the district.
Congratulations to Anita on her first striking competition and to Colin L for his first as conductor!
We’re very pleased to announce that the SCR team came first in the Christchurch and Southampton District striking competition which was held at Brockenhurst on Saturday. There was a good turnout, with teams attending from Christchurch, Eling and Lyndhurst/Minstead, as well as the local Brockenhurst band, who also laid on some splendid refreshments after the business meeting which took place after the competition. It was a close-fought battle on some challenging bells and we took a bit of a gamble by ringing St Simon’s Bob Doubles rather than playing it safe with Plain Bob or Grandsire, but we managed to produce a good enough test piece to reclaim the coveted Hinton Trophy!
